Bainbridge Island Museum of Art Exhibition 2024
Northwest School Now Exhibit
Bainbridge Island Museum of Art, Bainbridge Island, WA - Jul 5 – Sep 24 2024.

Highlights by Matthew Kangas
Curator Greg Robinson creates a huge summer salad of diverse artists exploring the question “Is there still a Northwest School?,” based on the legendary 1953 LIFE magazine article on Mark Tobey, Kenneth Callahan, Guy Anderson and Morris Graves. They shared a reverence for nature, the influence of Asian art, a search for spirituality and a muted palette. Robinson responds to the question with a vigorous “Yes!” by featuring 20 living artists, including Jite Agbro, Lanny Bergner, Lisa Gilley and Naoko Morisawa.

Utopia or Tougenkyo in Japanese word, an invisible world called Shangri-La. One day, when everyone leaves this world, he/she will be alone and see the mysterious route with peacock, flowers and horizon to this happy place. Or it may be existing on this planet somewhere-else.
